What airport do I fly into?

You can fly into Rome or Florence.  Florence is the closest major airport.  Pienza is approx. 2:30 by car from FCO (Rome’s international airport) and 1:40 by car from FLR (Florence’s international airport).

Arrivals:

The retreat starts at noon on August 30th.  For those arriving into Florence, we will arrange for a shuttle service from the main Florence train station, Santa Maria Novella.  at 10:00 on August 30th.  The precise location will be provided.  The shuttle costs of 400 to 450 euro would be shared by up to 8 people taking the shuttle.

Arriving into Rome:
Colleen and Howard will be arriving on the direct flight from Denver into Rome on August 28th and driving a 9 passenger van to Pienza.  For those who want to share the ride from Rome let us know.  You’ll need to book a room in Pienza for the nights of August 28th and 29th but we can help with that.

Departures:

The retreat ends at 10:00 a.m. on September 6th.  For those interested, there will be a shuttle from the hotel in Pienza to Santa Maria Novella (the main train station in Florence) at 10:00 and should arrive around noon.  Once again, the cost of between 400 and 450 euro would be shared by up to 8 people taking the shuttle.

Howard will be taking the van back to Rome airport on the 6th, departing around 11:00.  Let us know if you are interested in sharing that trip back to Rome.

Travel Insurance

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment in case unforeseen circumstances prevent you from attending or completing the retreat.

Travel insurance is particularly important in the event you:

    • Need to cancel due to illness or injury (including testing positive for COVID-19).

    • Require medical care during the retreat.

    • Face trip interruptions, delays, or unexpected quarantine requirements.

We suggest a policy that covers:

    • Trip cancellation and interruption

    • Medical expenses

    • Quarantine costs

For maximum flexibility, consider a “Cancel For Any Reason” (CFAR) policy, which provides additional peace of mind. While this type of coverage is more expensive, it offers the most protection for unforeseen changes.

To compare and purchase travel insurance, we recommend using Squaremouth, a trusted platform to find the best policy for your needs.https://www.squaremouth.com/22393

Before purchasing any policy, consult a travel insurance agent to ensure it meets your coverage expectations.
