What to Pack | Women’s Quest Retreat Checklist
Packing for Hawaii is all about easy, comfortable layers and trail-to-ocean gear! Use this checklist to get ready for your paradise adventure.
👟 Footwear
-
👟 Running / Walking Shoes: For morning walks, coastal trails, and exploring.
-
🧦 Socks: A few pairs for walking and hiking.
-
🩴 Beach Sandals or Flip-Flops: Perfect for lounging around Hale Kai.
-
🌊 Water Shoes / Reef Sandals: Crucial for walking on lava rock and navigating tidal areas (Tevas, Chacos, or water booties work great!).
🩱 Clothing
-
👙 Swimsuits (2–3): 1-piece or 2-piece—bring options so one is always dry.
-
🌺 Sarong: A versatile must-have for poolside relaxation or wrapping up after a swim.
-
🏄♀️ Rash Guard: Short or long sleeve for sun protection during ocean outings (a thin shorty wetsuit works well too).
-
🧘♀️ Comfortable Yoga / Movement Clothes: Lightweight, stretchy tops and bottoms for daily morning practice.
-
👗 Casual Sundress: For our fun nights out or casual lunches.
-
👕 Shorts & T-Shirts: Lightweight, breathable fabrics for daily adventures.
-
🧥 Light Rain Jacket & Light Fleece/Sweatshirt: Hawaii evenings near the water can get breezy, and high-altitude spots can get chilly!
-
😴 Sleepwear & Underwear: Lightweight pajamas or sleep shirts.
-
🧢 Sun Hat or Visor: Essential protection from the tropical sun.
🎒 Equipment & Gear
-
🥽 Swim Goggles & Swim Cap: For ocean swims.
-
🦭 Swim Fins: Optional, if you prefer to bring your own personal pair (rentals are also available on-site).
-
🎈 New Wave Swim Buoy: Essential for safety! This brightly colored buoy attaches to your waist while swimming so ocean craft can easily see you. Plus, it serves as a floating rest spot. (Note: This is a visibility aid, not a Coast Guard-approved flotation device.)
-
💧 Hydration Pack or Small Daypack: A CamelBak, Osprey, or small backpack that comfortably holds a water bottle, extra layers, and light snacks for daytime excursions.
-
🍾 Reusable Water Bottle & Holder: Staying hydrated in the tropics is key!
-
🏖️ Beach Towel & Beach Bag: Lightweight and quick-drying towels are ideal.
-
🕶️ Sunglasses & Glasses Retainer: (Croakies or strap) so your glasses don’t slip off in the ocean!
-
📸 Camera & Headlamp: For capturing memories and navigating around Hale Kai at night.
-
📱 Cell Phone & Waterproof Case: Protect your phone from saltwater and sand.
-
🧤 Kayaking / Bike Gloves: Optional, but wonderful for preventing paddle blisters during long paddling sessions!
🧴 Toiletries & Personal Care
-
🪥 Toothbrush & Toothpaste
-
🧴 Shampoo & Conditioner: Eco-friendly/biodegradable products are appreciated for our off-the-grid retreat center!
-
💇♀️ Hairbrush or Comb
-
🩸 Feminine Hygiene Products
-
💄 Cosmetics & Lip Balm with SPF
-
👁️ Contact Lenses & Solution: Bring a spare pair of glasses just in case!
☀️ Health & Wellness
-
🪸 Reef-Safe Sunscreen: Lots of it! Hawaii state law strictly requires mineral, reef-safe sunscreen (Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide) to protect our delicate marine ecosystems.
-
🦟 Bug Spray: For peaceful evening relaxing in the flora.
-
💊 Personal Prescriptions: Packed in your carry-on luggage with original labels.
📄 Documents & Wallet Essentials
