Footwear:

  • Hiking or running shoes with excellent tread. YOU WILL NEED GOOD TREAD!!! DO NOT COME IN YOUR BASIC RUNNING SHOES, THE SHOES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR PACKING LIST. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HIKED AT LEAST ONE MONTH IN THESE SHOES or BOOTS. If you have bad ankles get the higher ankle hiking boots, and also bring sports tape to wrap your ankle
  • Wool socks or good hiking socks, 5 pair at least
  • Flip flops or lightweight shoes for after hiking. You will want your hiking shoes OFF!

Clothing:

  • Bathing suit
  • Sweatshirt or fleece jacket
  • Waterproof rain jacket or poncho
  • For hiking: shorts, capris, or lightweight hiking pants
  • Yoga, (can just be done in your hiking clothes)
  • T-shirts (micro-fiber, moisture-wicking)
  • Long-sleeved shirt for sun protection, Columbia makes a nice one with SPF, or you may want a long sleeved lightweight one with a hood
  • Long sleeved wool shirt for cool nights like Smartwool, one with crew neck and one with high neck
  • Vest (this is optional but I like the Smartwool light wind vest)
  • Hat, ear band or BUFF and lightweight gloves
  • Sleep shirt/pajamas
  • Underwear
  • Visor/hat (you’ll also get a WQ hat)

Equipment/Gear:

  • Hiking poles with rubber tips (optional)
  • 2 water bottles or 2 to 3 Liter hydration pack
  • Energy bars for hikes (at least one per day) 8 bars
  • Hydration pack Osprey or Camelback (backpack with water reservoir, fits lunch, bars, jacket, phone)
  • Cell phone or camera (consider a waterproof case and tiny CLAKIT pouch to carry your phone on the front of your hydration pack)
  • Powerbank for your cell phone 
  • Sunglasses
  • Small flashlight or headlamp
  • Alarm clock
Adapter:
  1. Electrical Converter/Adapter: Get the Type C plug
     
    • Make sure it can handle the voltage in Italy, which is 230V.
    • Look for a universal adapter that supports both Type C and Type F sockets.
  2. Type C Plug (Europlug):
    • This plug has two round prongs and is the most common type in Europe, including Italy.
  3. Type F Plug (Schuko):
    • This plug has two round prongs and a grounding clip, which is also used in Italy.

When purchasing the adapter, ensure that it can accommodate your specific country’s plug type and has a suitable rating for the electrical devices you plan to use. It’s best to get a quality adapter from a reputable brand to ensure safety and compatibility.

Toiletries:

  • Bug spray. I like the natural bug spray
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shampoo/conditioner
  • Lotion
  • Brush/comb
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Contact lenses and solution (if appropriate)
  • Noise cancelling ear plugs

Health:

  • Sunscreen
  • Personal prescriptions (filled from home)
  • Spare contact lenses/glasses if applicable

Documents:

  • Passport
  • Driver’s license
  • Money, credit cards and debit card (to get cash from ATM – make sure you have a 4 digit pin)
  • Insurance card and contact information
  • WQ contact information and transportation/shuttle info

Leave at home:

  • Extra keys, credit cards, membership cards, etc.
  • Copies of passport, license, debit/credit cards, airline tickets, itinerary, and contact numbers
