St John’s – Deer Lake, Newfoundland Canada

DAILY ITINERARY

9 – The Adventure Begins…. St. John’s and Jigging for cod and whale watching  

  • 8:00 Breakfast at the Rose – on your own
  • 9:00 Hike to the signal hill lighthouse with our famous local guide – Joan – she is the best guide ever!!
  • 1:00 Lunch at a quaint little Newfoundland café
  • 1:00 Leave for the Quidi Vidi boat tour – Whale watching, jigging for cod and a dinner on the dock where we will help (if you want to) prepare the cod that we caught for a delicious meal. 
  • Check into Roses 
  • Screeching in
  • Ice cream for dessert 

July 10 St. John’s – Cape Spear Hike and Giving back 

  • 7:00 Breakfast at the Rose
  • 8:00 Depart for our 4 hour hike Hike from Cape Spear to Petty Harbor hike
  • Lunch – quick bite to eat at the harbor
  • 2:00 Giving back to a local Women’s Shelter.   We will be painting the inside of their home.   Please bring painting clothes – we will also buy the adhesive positive wall quotes $30 suggested donation
  • 7:30 Last night at the Rose – dinner at Oliver’s.
  • 9:00 Sound therapy by our guide Joan

July 11- St Johns -Gander – Exploits Island

  • 7am Breakfast
  • 8am- Leave for 3 hour drive Gander – with short stop bare mountain coffee  (https://comefromaway.com/) 11:30 meet with the Mayor of gander for a little chat.  YOU MUST WATCH THE MOVIE, PLAY OR AT LEAST THE TRAILER…Lunch at Gander airport. 
  • 2 pm arrival at Boat. Sort gear and head to Exploits ( ½ hour boat ride)
  • 3pm. Arrival at Exploits Island. Take in surroundings and depart on 4km hike to Lighthouse. Duration of hike is between 1 hour to 1.5 hours depending how much we stop and chat (a few stories) along the way. 
  • 4 pm. Arrive at lighthouse property. Get settled away and prepare for 6 pm dinner.
  • 7 pm. Relax, maybe a campfire, a few yarns, night sky etc.

July 12 Exploits Island

  • 7 am yoga outdoors (on helicopter deck) what a view!!
  • 8 am breakfast.
  • 9 am hike back to village or depart in boat if seas allow. This day can be a variety of activities depending on weather. Rather than set it in stone we will choose on the evening before…maybe around campfire. There’s kayak touring, more hiking, climb lookouts, visit old cemeteries hidden in the forest, pick blue mussels if the tide is right,
  • Lobster broil for lunch
  • Return to Lighthouse property either by hiking or by boat if seas allow. Going to the lighthouse by boat and climbing the steps is an adventure in itself!
  • 6 pm dinner and more relaxation and discussing the day’s events

July 13- Exploits Island -woody point

  • 7 am breakfast 
  • 8 am hike to boat
  • 10:00 Drive to woody point – about 3 hours 
  • 1:00 Lunch on your own
  • 2:00 check in to Rooms at Woody Point
  • 3:00 short hike to interpretation center
  • 6:00 dinner at Seaside – trout river  
  • 7:30 after dinner stroll on the cliffs 

July 14 The BIG CLIMB– Gros Morne National Park

July 15 Departure

  • 8:00 Breakfast by Donna in room
  • 9:00 pack up and leave by 9:30

If you are leaving early on July 15, we recommend you stay at the Holiday Inn or Deer lake motel.  We will try to arrange a ride – Please make sure all your travel information is complete
